You'd be surprised...my mother aset fire to her house by leaving a mirror propped next to some boxes...
In the early 1960s there was a small clip-on gadget that allowed drivers to see traffic signals above their cars without craning their necks. These had to be discontinued because they would occasionally focus sunlight onto a parked car's cloth upholstery intensely enough to ignite same.
